Develop Industry Ready Skills
Industry readiness means having the right skillset and knowledge to become employed and stay productive in current industries. Industry readiness not only improves your employability, but also helps you secure a job that fits you well.
Critical Thinking
When you have the ability to analyze and solve problems in the workplace, you can quickly resolve issues, troubleshoot problems, and respond to developments or complications with accuracy.
Creative Product Design
Creativity in the manufacturing workplace is important, especially when it comes to designing new products. The ability to take an idea and turn it into a viable product is highly valuable in a factory setting, and opens up many new opportunities for employees.
Embrace Digital Tools
You want to be able to hone your abilities to use new systems, technologies, platforms, and software for digital data and AI tools. This will raise your value to the company you work for and opens you up for continued growth opportunities.
Lean Manufacturing
This helps you think more strategically about the processes you use, and can help you find opportunities to make them smoother and more efficient. Learning about lean manufacturing can help you find and eliminate areas of waste in your factory without sacrificing product quality.
Machine Programming
As technology and artificial intelligence continue to develop, there is less of a need for employees to operate and manually run machines. Instead, the needs of the factory have shifted to employees who can program machines and manufacturing devices.
Team Collaboration
Collaboration skills enable you to successfully work toward a common goal with others. They include communicating clearly, actively listening to others, taking responsibility for mistakes, and respecting the diversity of your colleagues.
Problem Solving
You need to be able to identify the problem and come up with solutions quickly. Problem-solving skills also help with decision-making. You need to be able to weigh the pros and cons of different options and make the best decision for the team.
Time Management
Manufacturers often have strict timelines. As such, employees who work in these industries must have good time management skills and the ability to stick to a schedule and produce results.
